That was the text that got sent to my special guy yesterday...and pretty much what ended up on facebook as well. My day was interesting...
I ventured out into the pollen haze of Atlanta to go home and sat there contemplating sleep. I was really about to zonk out, or at least go play a video game, but I get a phone call. I screen my calls. I don't know your number, I'm not answering, so you'd better leave a message. Well, the guy DID leave a message and it was about a job a friend had posted of facebook about a week ago. I called him back and he loved me and hired me pretty much right there. I started working on all my new hire paperwork.
I applied at Lenz a month or so ago, and got turned down the first time because I lacked experience. The guy asked me if I had done or looked into any internships. At first, I was really down because I got the answer I (honestly) expected, but just didn't want to see. Then I thought about it and replied that I hadn't been able to find any internships since graduating because there weren't really any in my field open and the ones that were only offered course credit, which I really didn't need/couldn't use.
I NEED(ED) MONEY.
So I ask the guy if HE has any internships or small opportunities available and he says he'll get back to me (they had already hired a guy). He sends me a picture (kinda randomly) one day and tells me to code it into a site, track my time, and send it all back to him. He says he understands if that was something I didn't want to do. I respond that I'll get right on it, thinking to myself, "Self, this is your chance to prove yourself. KILL IT." I do the work and send it back and he says he wants me to come in and meet with him.
WOAH.
I go in and meet with him (on like the COLDEST day of 2010) and he likes me and says he'll bring me back to meet his brother, the CEO (he's the VP, by the way). I go back the next week, meet the brother, and get told I'll know by the end of the day. I send a follow-up email (ALWAYS SEND A FOLLOW UP, IT SHOWS YOU ACTUALLY GIVE HALF A DAMN) and he lets me know I'll know the next day.
Cool.
He gets back to me and asks that I check back in 4-6 weeks because they don't really have anything available.
HUGE frown.
I wait. I search. I wait. I get depressed. I wait. I search. I cry. I wait. APRIL BITCH!
Well, actually, it gets to the end of March and I'm like "Self, go check back". I re-check the email he sent last and it said to check in the beginning of April. I was like ok, next week then, on Tuesday (Mondays are usually bad days for people, and it was Easter Sunday right before). Tuesday comes and I can't find a way to put the words I want to say into actual words. I decide to wait until Wednesday.
So while I'm filling out online paperwork for the part time job I'd just gotten (being the sample lady (basically) at Sam's Club) I get the email cranked out to Lenz as well. The VP hits me back like what's your phone number.
Word?
I send it and he calls me shortly thereafter and gets a little small talk out of the way. I tell him I JUST got a job and what it was and he PROMPTLY tells me to forget that job, come in tomorrow (which was today (which was actually yesterday, technically)) and WORK FOR LENZ FULL TIME.
EXAGGERATED HUGE HAPPY DANCE
I went to work today (yesterday), I seem to have fit in pretty well with everyone, and I'M SO HAPPY!
I WILL be looking for MY OWN housing. SOON. (Yippie!)
